Notes "We are conscious that each of us, within its own limit, can give its active contribution to the battle against pollution for a cleaner tomorrow starting from today. In our vineyards we use only methods that guarantee full respect of the territory and our wines are only natural ones. For us organic viticulture means love and respect for nature. The choice of materials also winks at ecology: screw caps in aluminium, labels printed with natural ink and a particularly light glass bottle complete a stylish and completely recyclable packaging."

Italo Cescon
The Italo Cescon winery was established in 1957 in the Fruili region of north-eastern Italy by its founder Italo Cescon. It is now managed by his wife Chiara and 3 children Gloria, Graziella and Domenico. In 1954, Italo Cescon chose to follow the tradition of his father Domenico who has founded a small cellar and was a small producer of wine for some families of his little village.

In the area of Doc Piave, they have 115 hectares of vineyards, of which 80 ha of vineyards are located in the Eastern Veneto region, 15 ha in Friuli Venezia Giulia and 15 ha on sunny hills of Valdobbiadene. They are divided into 6 different estates. The area has different climates that allow the winery to produce wines of outstanding quality. The soils consist of alluvial sands due to the Piave river frequently flooding the fields and vineyards during the centuries and are wetted by deep watercourses. This gives wines their unique flavours.
Friuli-Venezia Giulia
The north-eastern Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia ranks with Tuscany and Piedmont in terms of quality of output. Nearly 62% of the wine produced in the region falls under a DOC designation - there are 11 DOC and 3 DOCG regions.

The best vineyards in the region are in the foothills of the Alps, facing south to receive direct sunlight and cool evening breezes blowing off the Adriatic. The soil is rich in calcium and sandstone, with patches of sand and gravel.

The region's output is about 60% white and 40% red. Friulano is the most famous variety, known for creating crisp, floral whites with great ageing potential, and Merlot is the leading red wine grape. There has also been a revival of orange wine in the region of the past decade.

We had a few cases of this at a relatives birthday party recently. The stocks ran dry before anything else was halfway through - everyone was going back for more!! Super easy to drink, not too sweet - just fresh and delightful.
