Colour Light Gold
Nose The wine has a subtle nose of white acacia flowers, fresh almonds and a hint of zest
Palate On the palate, the attack is rich but driven by a tantalising acidity. Balance is achieved with a long finish. It will benefit from being decanted for 15 minutes and it can be cellared up until 2022 or beyond
Food Pairing It goes well with cured meat such as prosciutto or scallops with creamy sauce

Notes Owner Marc's knowledge of diverse wine making processes and the land, has led to a high level of complexity, fruit and balance in his wines. This has been further enhanced by his eldest son Pierre-Henri’s mastery of traditional oak barrel maturation. Managing the yields is important at Domaine Rougeot in order to create balanced, characterful wine, and their ‘no-compromises’ approach is articulated in the quality and consistency of the wine.

This AOC in Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, is renowned as one of the most reliably excellent sources of Chardonnay in the world (though there are also small amounts of Pinot Noir grown). There are more top producers here than anywhere else in Côte-d'Or, despite there not being any Grand Cru vineyards in the AOC. It's the incredible proliferation of high-quality Premier Cru and commune-level wine that makes this region so popular.

Meursault Chardonnay is typically oaken in style, and is often described as having rich, buttery notes that are evidence of a classic Burgundy terroir.
