Meet The Maker - Chalmers Wines With Tennille And Kim Chalmers - February 12th At 6.30pm

For the first of our Meet the Maker sessions of the year, we're honoured to be joined by Kim and Tennille Chalmers from Chalmers wines in Victoria. While the Chalmers viticultural story goes back to the late 1970s with grape growing and vine propagation, it was only in the early 2000s they began to produce their own wine. Beginning with the Murray Darling Collection in 2003 they experimented with many different varieties of French, Spanish and Italian origin in an effort to find grapes that were capable of producing optimum quality in warmer, drier growing conditions. After a few vintages, the focus sharpened on Italian varieties, of which they had more than 30 in the vineyard, and they put their name on the label to create Chalmers wines. The tasting will focus on these incredible 'Aussie made Italians' made by the Chalmers family paired with their original Italian counterparts for context, to understand why these varieties work so well here in Australia.
