Nose Striking floral edges with cuts of bright red berries combine on the nose of the 2016 Dagger Pinot Noir to create a fresh yet complex attack on the senses.
Palate Lifted rich fruit and spice parry along the palate to a finish of fine-grained tannin and bright acidity.

Riposte
The Knappstein family began making wine in South Australia in 1894. Alongside making wine Tim has been a continuous fixture on the show judging circuit since 1975 and chairs the Cowra and National Cool Climate Wines Shows.



In 2006 as a response to personal vicissitudes and the inability to use his own name as a brand Tim launched the Riposte label, a small portfolio of complex and striking cool climate wines from the Adelaide Hills. Riposte is a fencing term meaning a 'quick reply' or 'counterthrust' and is Tim's personal reply to the increasingly corporatised world of winemaking. Tim's mission is to create the finest wines possible from premium Adelaide Hills vineyards.



A true family enterprise from its inception, Riposte is wholly owned and run by Tim with his wife Dale and son Nick - this is small scale winemaking at it's best!
Adelaide Hills
Famous for their Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir, the viticulture of this region was re-established in 1979 but grapes were planted locally as early as 1839. During the last three decades, Adelaide Hills has emerged as one of Australia’s most exciting cool climate wine region, being known to produce elegant, distinct, sophisticated wines. Located in the Mount Lofty Ranges and only a 30 minute drive from Adelaide, this region is home not only to over 90 wine labels and 48 cellar doors, but also to multiple forests, beef and dairy farms, apple and pear orchards.



Known to be one of the largest geographical wine regions in Australia, the Adelaide Hills are made up of two registered sub regions: Lenswood and Piccadilly Valley. These narrow band of hills stretch across to be approximately 70 km long and 30 km wide and border Barossa and Eden Valleys to the North and McLaren Vale to the South.



The climate of this region is considerably cooler compared to other wine regions in the summer, due to the altitudes of the vineyards being 400-700 meters high. The cooler drier climate produces grapes with ideal fruit composition, creating the perfect balance of flavour and acidity.

Light, but bright crimson hue; a surprise packet, until the memory of prior vintages clicks in. This has an indecent amount of complex varietal fruits; cherry and plum fruit engage in a duel to establish primacy, the referee coming in with spicy/savoury tannins to give context to the duel - which ultimately remains unresolved.

A warm and inviting aroma with hints of strawberry jam. The fruit is beautifully ripe and perfumed. Lively, snappy red berry flavours. A very easy drinking light red wine with great flavour intensity. Highly recommended. (Screwcap)

Lovely fragrant aromas of cherry and spices, clean and fresh on nose and palate. The wine has depth and structural firmness well above its station. Full body; lovely wine. (An unwooded, early-release style; MV6 and 777 clones, machine-harvested. Lots of whole-bunch fermentation) Great value.
