Colour Deep Red
Nose The nose shows dark fruits, fresh red berries and chocolate.
Palate Vibrant and bright dark fruits and fresh fig with a fine sparkling bead. Flesh tannin and integrated oak gives the wine density and structure.
Food Pairing Peking or Chinese roast duck.

Notes From Treasury Wine Estates regarding the wine now being a NV rather than a wine from a specific vintage: "We are making this change to deliver more complexity and consistency year on year. During 150 years of wine making, Seppelt Wines has built a reputation for innovation and dedication to quality. The winery has pioneered vineyard plantings in cool climate Victorian regions, always on the lookout for unique terrains which produce fine wines including the Drumborg Vineyard, which is one of the most southern sites on Australia's mainland. Yields are often low but the traditionally meagre crops are of high to excellent quality. The focus during vinification is to maximise clean fruit intensity. This is achieved by transporting the fruit in small batches and processing quickly to prevent oxidisation, followed by a cool temperature controlled vinification.



The Seppelt approach is to harness the strength and characteristics of each region and create varietally and regionally expressive wines. Today, Seppelt strives for the same standards of excellence that gave these wines the iconic status for which they are renowned. The wine making philosophy focuses on producing exceptional wines, synonymous with quality and refined elegance in style.
Great Western
Part of Victoria's iconic Grampians wine region, Great Western is famous for its strong, long-lasting vines, and especially its Shiraz.



The first vines in the region were planted in the 1850s, making Great Western one of Australia's oldest wine regions. These vines are still being used today, and their complexity and depth is quite unique to the region.



From hardened silt to clay loams and granitic gravel, the soil is perfect for low yield, high quality vines. Though there is little rain and the soil drains quickly, the coverage of the ancient vines is more than enough to soak up moisture and complex notes of spice.



The almost Mediterranean climate in Great Western also lends itself to Shiraz - the warm days and cool evenings during the warmer months are perfect for the grape's slow ripening process.
